Our Mission:
is to promote the recovery of people with a mental illness through meaningful employment, and to foster fellowship and understanding for themselves, their families and their friends.
The Mental Illness Fellowship of the ACT (MIFACT) works in partnership with all organisations and stakeholders who provide services to people with a mental illness and who share our principles.
The Fellowship:
- our membership consists of families, friends and people with a mental illness
- is governed by a Committee of Management
- is funded by the ACT government to provide a vocational rehabilitation program to people with a mental illness
- volunteers from among members and friends assist in projects and functions which benefit the whole mental health sector and work towards reducing stigma associated with mental illness.
Objectives of the Mental Illness Fellowship of ACT
Objective 1:
- Provide fellowship for people with a mental illness, their families and friends
- To give the carer and the whole family an opportunity to socialize and have positive interaction with other families.
- Encourage the consumer who feels isolated because of their illness to socialise with their families.
Objective 2:
- Deliver quality rehabilitation services for people with mental illness
Objective 3:
- Effectively communicate with members and stakeholders about MIFACT activities and programs
- Promote the services available through other government and non-government organisations
Objective 4:
- Ensure excellence in the governance and management of MIFACT
- Manage the Fellowship in accordance with our Constitution, legislative and contractual obligations.
The Mental Illness Fellowship of ACT (MIFACT) acknowledges the support provided by Mental Health ACT Services in assisting MIFACT to provide a vocational rehabilitation program for people with a mental illness.
